UNEO modernises its accounting with Abacus

The project to integrate Abacus at UNEO started in spring 2020 with a call for tenders. The first modules were already installed in November. "The starting point was our desire to be a fully-fledged partner for the management of our clientèle", explains David Gaudin, co-founder and board member of UNEO. The idea was to move from a "traditional" accounting system to a more dynamic one that allows real-time tracking of transactions and greater financial transparency.

The software, which was already well established in German-speaking Switzerland, quickly emerged as the solution that best met the company's requirements.

A modular tool customised for SMEs

Abacus proved to be the right choice for UNEO due to its modular structure. Each module of the software has been developed by experts and enables customisation to the specific needs of customers ranging from sole proprietorships to small and medium-sized enterprises. The modules used by UNEO include Financial Accounting, Accounts Receivable/Payable & Payroll, Invoicing and Electronic Banking.

One of the great strengths of Abacus are the collaborative solutions such as AbaClick and AbaWeb. These tools enable UNEO's customers to track information and document flows such as working hours, absences and payroll accounting in real time. This significant time savings has helped to improve the company's responsiveness and meet the needs of its customers.

UNEO

Controlled costs for sustainable profits

The implementation of Abacus at UNEO was a major investment. "We were hesitant to introduce Abacus ERP because of the implementation, licence and maintenance costs. However, these costs were relativised by the efficiency gains and the reliability of the software," emphasises David Gaudin.

Abacus allows transactions to be tracked in real time, which is particularly appreciated in a tight market environment where companies need to report frequently and accurately to the board of directors or banks. Thanks to this solution, UNEO can now respond quickly to specific requests such as annual reports or interim financial statements and support its customers with strategic decisions and financing applications, for example.

Flexibility and innovation: a key for UNEO

One of the biggest challenges for UNEO was to find a balance between the stability of Abacus and the flexibility required to adapt to the different needs of its customers. "We have used the ERP system as a basis for innovations that are specifically tailored to the granular way our company and our customers work", explains David Gaudin. "We want to offer an innovative and scalable technology ecosystem and at the same time benefit from the collaboration and innovations of Abacus".

On the way to technological maturity

Today, after several years of use, UNEO is in the "technological maturity" phase with Abacus. The implementation required an introduction and support for customers and teams. Today, the latter have full command of the ERP system and utilise it optimally. The company is now able to offer real-time accounting, which has become a decision-making tool.

However, UNEO remains attentive to technological developments, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence. Abacus is pursuing a clear course of innovation and has already announced that the 2025 version will contain significant innovations in the field of artificial intelligence. The company aims to continue to play a leading role in the integration of AI and other forward-looking technologies in the future. "The future of ERP will be determined by its ability to integrate AI and other innovations while ensuring security, data protection and compliance," adds David Gaudin.
